The gates to the parking lots at Narragansett Town Beach have been locked to prevent large groups of people from gathering on the beach.
Thirteen people were taken to the hospital after a chemical leak in North Kingstown Thursday.
State parks and beaches will close due to the coronavirus, Gov. Gina Raimondo says. The total number of cases in Rhode Island is now 488.
An important note for our readers in the Narragansett area:
Tomorrow morning the Narragansett Police Department will be teaming up with members of the National Guard to conduct a door to door messaging campaign. We will ...provide guidance based on the Governor's Executive Order 20-14 regarding out of state travelers. Safe operating distance will be maintained at all times and personal protective equipment will be worn. Please do not be alarmed. This is a public health educational initiative. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
