My 4 year old son and I were kicked out of the Kempsville Rec today. I signed up for two annual passes and checked with the front desk staff that I could take him in without swimming. I explained I had surgery and they said as long as I was within arms reach. Once we got into the pool area, a woman approached me within 2 minutes to tell me I couldn't be there without a bathing suit. I wasn't aware of this rule since we had just walked in and signed up. I explained that I spoke to the front desk and just had surgery and we would be staying in the shallow area with the slides. She said it doesn't matter and I still need a suit. I asked her if we would have to leave and she said I had 5 minutes to leave. I understand there are rules but the fact that an exception couldn't be made one time and I had to take my son out of the pool after being there less than 5 minutes is ridiculous. I told her I'd be getting a refund and she was perfectly okay with that. I have lived in Virginia Beach for 20 years and have some of the best memories from going to the kempsville rec. It's unfortunate because I was really looking forward to bringing my son to play despite not being able to do much after the surgery. See More

Lisa McCann is the best personal trainer ever! I am a senior citizen with back issues and Lisa is helping me to get in shape and stay healthy. I feel safe and secure with Lisa because she has worked... with my limitations, motivated me and respected my need to go slowly at first. I see Lisa twice a week at the Williams Farm Rec. Center and I am very happy with the progress I am making with her help. Thanks, Lisa!! See More

I've belonged to Virginia Beach Recreation Center since 1996. I discovered the outdoor adventure kayak trips. I own two kayaks and was always going to the same place. A friend and I started signing up... for the Parks and Recreation kayak trips to learn more places to go in Virginia Beach. Just bring yourself, suntan lotion, mosquito repellent, a snack, and water. Parks and Recreation provides the equipment and staff who are remarkable. They give instructions and share lots of information about birds and vegetation. I have learned so much and gotten some great photos. This is just one example about the classes and services VB Parks and Recreation provides. Take advantage of it. The costs are reasonable and you'll have a great time. See More

We tried to sign my daughter up for softball. Takes an act of congress to get in touch with anyone to get any information. The manager tells us to call area or softball coordinator. What kind of can't get anything done? The area coordinator never called us back. The softball coordinator finally calls back after several messages and we ask her to put us on tues/thurs team because our family does something Mondays we have been doing 1.5 years. Well, we get on the Mon Wed team. Left several messages and emails with softball coordinator and she never calls back. We had to get the coach to get her to call us finally. She says send her an email to ask for a refund. Mind you she had never returned emails my husband or I have sent her. We will see if we ever get our refund. Terrible. In this day and age with communication at everyone's fingertips, it should not be so difficult to get in touch with anyone. And my 10 year old will be unable to participate in something she's been looking forward to for a month now. She practices in the back yard with her dad every evening he's home. See More

Im a Virginia Wesleyan Alum and Va Beach Volunteer, I have a sad story you may want to hear. Va beach parks and rec and head of area basketball abused power and as a result, negatively effected 10youn...g boys ages 8-10 who now won't be participating in VaBeach Rec basketball this season. I'm sure they thought I would remain silent. They don't know me very well.
If I don't hear from anyone tomorrow I'll contact you personally. #10OnYourSide

As a life long Virginia Beach resident, one of my favorite "city perks" is the recreation centers! I live two miles away from PA Rec Center and I absolutely love the pool, racquetball courts and cardi...o machines! After visiting Williams Farm, I can't wait to see the new Kempsville facility too! What kind of BS operation are you running Virginia beach Parks and Recreation? All your signage says you're open. Your website says you're open. Rest of the park is open, but you close the vert ramp b...ecause the 2 losers you have here on a Sunday afternoon in July are taking their lunch breaks!? Are you freaking kidding me? I drove from Richmond for this bullshit! I'm a 45-yr-old former pro standing here looking at 3 more pros my age and just as many sponsored riders, and we can't ride until virginia beach supplies a some teenage reject working off community service to sit here at a picnic table! You haven't heard the end of this. Parks& rec, what a joke! #virginiabeach #virginiabeachparks #mounttrashmore #virginiabeachparksandrecreation #virginianpilot #wavytv10 #willsessoms See More

My son goes to the summer camp as well as the after school program, and I must say they are amazing!! All the staff is great with the kids and very professional. Yesterday my son had an accident were ...he was leaning up against a wall and slid down to plop a seat. While doing so, he scraped his back on a couple door hinges . Nothing to serious only just a mark. Since than I have had four calls from yesterday to today from their staff including managers calling to see how he was doing. I'm thankful to have placed him in a program that not only gave him an awesome summer as always, but cares about his well being! So I must say AWESOME JOB YOU GUYS!!!! and thank you! See More

A big Thank You to the staff at Seatack. My daughter's baby shower was in the annex building last Saturday. We could not have been more pleased. Every accommodation was made and everyone had a great time.

A beautifully transcending experience. The Yin Yoga Event today at Bow Creek Municipal Recreation Center was a moment of peace and letting go. Our teachers Eddie and Jeremy were delighted to bring this practice to so many. #yin #yinyoga #namaste #om #relax #meditation
