Let me start off by saying that this is NOT a family friendly establishment. When I went to dinner with my friend who has a child still in diapers there isn't a...nywhere for her to take she child to be changed. Yet the servers there on multiple occasions have told her to change her baby in the bathroom (that has no changing table) on the toilet seat. Sorry but no parent is going to try and change a child on a toilet seat let alone in a public bathroom. The food is never consistent on preperation or portions, at least one or more of the items I order are always undercooked. Moving on to the servers, 90% of the time they act like they don't even want to be there. When ever there has been an issue like not changing table they group together and whisper about guest. I've only had one server there that actually knows what good customer service consists of. I don't know how they are still in business after all these years. All I can say is I will be boycotting Vertical and all the business under the same ownership. عرض المزيد

My sister and I came here twice on our way to and from Reno, Nevada. Being from Denver, our standards for vegan restaurants are pretty high, but Vertical Diner ...blew us away! The Nacho Mama was the best plate of nachos I've ever had in my life, vegan or otherwise. Their fry sauce is so good that we had to take some home with us. But by far the highlight of our visit was our server, Jody. She was incredible! She was so welcoming, funny, prompt, and sweet, and she made us feel like we were regulars who had been coming there for years. Plus, she has beautiful hair. What more could you ask for in a server? Jody, I hope they're paying you well and that you get to drink all the chocolate shakes you want.
Anyway, definitely head over to Vertical Diner. If not for the food, then for the amazing waitstaff. And make sure you try the fry sauce. Truly delicious. عرض المزيد

I have been a vegetarian for about a month. I really love this restaurant and made it easier for my choice of life. The only two things I wasn't fond of was th...e water had no ice and it was tap water also the slow bussers. The food is awesome! The service tho can be inconsistent. We went there for the pizza night and the pizza was killer! However we spent the vast majority of the ...time sitting and waiting which was a bit frustrating. It would be better if the pizza was just all laid out and the customers could just get as much as they want in two or three trips and be done in 20 mins instead of waiting to be served one piece at a time. The time spent waiting compared to actually eating was probably 5 minutes to one, which isn't too good when you're really hungry. Always my boyfriend and my favorite place to go, when we are in salt lake. The food is always fantastic. Plus the service is always great. I recommend for any type of diet.

No idea how I went so long without writing a review for your guys' page.
This has been my favorite restaurant for like 3 years. The best vegan comfort food I'v...e found in Utah. For the most part friendly staff. Naomi is a sweetheart, and you luck out if you sit at her table.
My most favorite/usual is the American Diner, where I first fell in love with seitan, and never found quite as good since. The gravy has more flavor than most meat flavored gravy, and is actually the best my (omnivore) mom and I have ever tried.
And my boyfriends favorite is the dude cakes, a little of every flavor in perfect combination.
My (again, omnivore) mom is in love with your taco salad and loves this restaurant as much as me.
I've brought multiple omnivores to the place and all have absolutely loved the food, except for one bad experience with tempeh bacon. Which is understandable... Tempeh isn't for everybody haha.

If you have skeptical family, this is the place to bring them to show how much flavor plant based food can have. عرض المزيد

I've been coming here on and off for the last five years. It's always been hit or miss, but for the last year-it's been miss. Now that they're in the old Sages ...with new staff-it's even worse. The food is less quality, and the service is awful. I try to support 100% vegan restaurants, so we end up going to Vertical a lot. The inconsistent service and food has gotten to the point where we expect it to ...be bad. $6 for "Biscuits & Gravy"= ONE biscuit. $10 for a sandwich= a roll with two peices of tiger tenders. What in the hell happened to Vertical Diner? A meal (biscuits and gravy with 2 sides) that use to cost only 10 dollars only a year ago is now 15 dollars, and th...e portions were EXTREMELY small. 4 dollars for tofu scramble and I got maybe 3 or 4 bites worth. The size of the rice sausage decreased by about 25 percent, and the biscuits were about half an inch thick, both fitting in the palm of my hand - also they were crunchy all the way through). I returned this to go order, and made a comment to the cashier about the portion size and jacked up price.. Rather than being courteous and seeking management (OR EVEN PRETENDING LIKE HE CARED) he said "yea, well, it's not my thing". I will NEVER go back to Vertical Diner again, and this is coming from a person who has been a customer here for 8 years. It really is a shame, cause this place use to be marvelous. عرض المزيد

I'm not vegan but my friend is and we go here sometimes, but this place makes me feel like I could be :) food was great our server was great as well. Love the soy shakes!

I really had no idea that SLC had so many vegan restaurants! Vertical Diner was recommended to us by a friend and so we made sure to stop in. I had the Einstein sandwich. Sausage and sauerkraut?! Yum!

We drove thru SLC this summer and stopped for dinner. It was very tasty! Tender Tigers were AMAZING!!! The whole family enjoyed it and I was happy to have found a solid vegan spot to eat. Keep up the good work! We will definitely come back here if we're ever in the area again.

You counter man Sam really needs to work on his people skills. Didnt say hi just stared at me weirdly. I instantly felt unwanted and uncomfortable so much i got... my order to go! Awesome food made with integrity and delivered with a friendly smile. We were in SLC for two weeks for a Blacksmithing conference and this establishment was our favourite place for dinner. You won't miss meat when you can eat here! Greetings to Sam and Naomi from Australia.

I'm not even vegan and this place was amazing. Portions are huge, and I got to take half of my La Mesa I ordered home and enjoy the yummy food all over again. First time diner, and now will be a repeat customer. Even my picky 3 year old finished his plate. :)

This place is the best. You don't have to be vegan or vegetarian to enjoy it. I have tired something new every time we have gone and have never been disappointed. When I am craving meat, without havinf to really eating I get my fix. This place is a must come everyone.
