Yesterday Vortex SimRacing finished the 2017 Classic Indycar Series with great success!
Michele Costantini, driver of the #66 car, again showed his phenomal oval skills by scoring his second consecutive poleposition. His teammate Robert Grosser (#1) completed a all-Vortex front row. Michele secured the oval-championship just by taking the green flag, as he already won 3 races this season, all of them on an oval (Texas #1, New Hampshire, Kentucky). Robert was still in the fig...ht for the overall championship, enetring the race 25 points behind the leader Lucas Laville. Both drivers showed great teamwork as they pulled away from the field as a tandem, allowing each other to save some fuel in the draft. This strategy went well until the last restart of the race. Michele spun his tires on that restart, dropping back to P6. The spectators saw some action-filled final 6 laps to the chequered, where Michele was making his way through the field up to P3.
Robert was able to stay in the lead, securing his 3rd win this season (after Mosport & Motegi), which was also his first ever oval win in the CIS. But was it enough to win the title? Lucas only finished in P11, not enough to defend the points-lead!
So finally Robert won his third consecutive title in the CIS, while Michele finished overall P6 after joining the series only mid-season.
A very succesful season for Vortex SimRacing comes to an end, with Timo Isoniemi winning poleposition at the Indy 500 (P12 in the overall standings) and TM Hauser winning the prestigious Indy 500 (P16 in the overall standings), making it a total of 7 wins in 13 races for our team!
The NEO Endurance Series 2017/2018 is about to start today! Vortex SimRacing will enter a Ferrari in the GT class, driven by Joel Guez, Emanuele Petri, Jonathan Brault, Massimo Erra, Kévin Leclaire and Luis Omar Rodríguez Sobarzo. Best of luck guys!
Vortex SimRacing's Michele Costantini is hoping to be able to make the race. But technical issues are making it uncertain at the moment... He clearly is the strongest driver on ovals this season and wants to secure his oval-championship. Of course Michele also likes to support fellow teammember Robert Grosser, who is still in the fight for the overall-championship! Both worked hard during the week to develop a competitive setup. And with the help of Joel Real Timing they will also be able to optimize their race strategy. But will it be enough when the chequered flag drops?

After a absolutely flawless race, with a excellent strategy (and being lucky of not suffering from the mass-disconnects) we are so happy to win this big race! 388 Laps of tough competition. All drivers involved did a wonderful job, keeping the car in one piece. Now it is time to rest, get some well needed sleep (and maybe a shower as well...)
Thanks to our competitors on track. It was a pleasure ra...cing with you!
