Putting a Hi everyone I'm representative brenda lopez romero were here at our office at the um cover del legislative building and we just wanted to give you a couple of updates about what's going on um the session has were basically a legislative session five it slowly going going um and starting we haven't seen any legislation really move at this point and so we're gonna give you updates about those things that there has they're happening but there are some programs and something that I need to discuss with everybody to bring you on board and um have you Make sure we spread the word and that's on the mart of referendum to expand more into a net County that vote will be election day March 19 but early voting starts February 20 fifth so what we're doing is going out and back into the district and giving information to our registered voters to make sure that they come out and vote so if you'd like to help us please reach out to us you can always give us a call at 6789 zero nine 90 drop some of this literature at the palm at our homes to make sure that folks come out and vote for Moore to uh this nineteenth of March remember early voting against starts February 20 fifth so um we really need to keep working on that the other thing is that I'd like to discuss a couple of programs that are really important for people to apply um it's particularly to win that County we have one at one oh one citizens academy it's a great program that I did um a little bit during the When I first ran for office and it basically gives you a highlight of all the departments um or many of the major departments for our County and basically teaches you how our County administers those programs so make sure you Google would net a one on one citizens academy and make sure that you apply for it they have to call her programs 11 in the spring it's a great program to do and I highly highly suggest that anyone and one that lives in that County that requirements are you have to live there you have to work All you have to be a business owner in the County and if you have any of those three things apply to you you don't have to be all three you just have to be one of them but if any of those um uh actually apply to you make sure that you apply for the program the other thing is for um a really exciting program the congressional Hispanic caucus Institute does for high schoolers if you are or you know any high school or that is in tenth or eleventh grade and his interested in civic engagement and wants to learn about Congress and how it's run it's a week long program that the congressional Hispanic caucus does and I'm looking Up here for a free y'all you can either Google um our to L next generation that's our to L next generation and it'll take you to the website um that will have basically that where you apply cuz it's all online um but just um just so you know that that application deadline has um deadline is coming up the seventeenth of February so make sure you get all your tenth graders an eleventh graders that you know to go ahead and apply for the program again if you have any questions about when that one oh one or the arts well next generation make sure you send us a message give us a call and Uh one last reminder again going back we do have more to referendum on the ballot um with the standalone election March nineteenth and we need to have folks come out and vote so make sure if you're one Asian that you come out and vote yes for Martin expansion if you're not uh one nation and you wanna help us nonetheless because less traffic and more um environmentally a better um ways of transportation through public transit is important to everybody and if you wanna help Spread out the word we're definitely taking volunteers a group of us are still going to go out and canvass on that so we need more folks to come help us and distribute that information so great talking to you guys make sure you um keep following some of the updates that we have I will be doing some of these throughout the legislative session whether to talk about great programs that you should take part of obviously information but obviously giving you updates about the legislative bills as they move forward and importantly we're gonna do a lot of calls to action when we need you to come here to the Capitol to be present At committees to testify before committees for a whole host of different things to advocate and lobby your legislators so we're always gonna be doing these calls to action but even if there's not a call to action as always I wanted to invite you to come down to session and simply just to hang out at the Capitol um you can sit in the back of what we call the gallery and watch their you know the process of what every day today today um start of session looks like and so it's really important that you come and meet your legislators whether it's my If you have any other Legislature they're more than happy to kind of connect with them that is
