We mobilize and got a grasp of campaign off the ground in two months we got to our election and to begin the race with me one was an attorney and one of are you served in the House of representatives you got to election day our strategy the spray we new what are we number one was Where it's about eight 30 older close now we're getting ready to go to our election night watch party in the district it's about six minute drive from my House to the watch party and so we get to the watch party and we get out of the car and we're paying for parking and the final results coming I was 23 votes short of 50 point one percent I had gotten 49 point seven percent the declaration because turnout with solo and the election was 23 votes I wanna leave you to With a charge ask 23 women to run for office and if I can ever help you I pledge my face before you can find me on social media you can find me at the capital you can find me a women's health clinics and you can definitely find me wherever the next campaign is to get women elected in Georgia I think so much and I look forward to a little bit And now introducing my bestfriend on representatives floor my seat baby representative regular pets Actually Super great um we our suite mates and um and I will tell you that's coming into session at the Pacific and I think it comes It is a name that he I'm hanging in there up onto her silver flat before beat and um she got coming from what I was is so this is also the other people that you are allowing yourself to great events like intelligent women because they're gonna help you along You're like the positions that well your career and so not let me rest back into the new plan to limit americana district 99 19 90 s district in Georgia Park And so I wanna thank you and congratulate you for being here and for the four is the most important thing that I can tell you today is run for office also if I say one thing else that you need you're gonna hear over again that you can secure from us not who should run for office but I should run for office and that's what you need to tell your selves um once you get here you're gonna be fully prepared to do so with the initial experience of training that you're gonna have throughout your years and I tell my legislative debates that come in um that one strike to a College I knew as a challenge to actually five years and this is the um finishing College that you should run for office and where we are today is that this for those of y'all that are from here from Georgia um this year we have an adjustable elections so you have those two run or especially that you're singing level uh if you have issues concerns and for that we also have County elections as an exit for example when it count we have a lot of concerns that the three she also happen margaret referendum that's been March nineteenth of this year very important for you to start making up and start doing and you hold on civic Organization or in my case um I'm also promising my district to make sure that we will guess not for it you're gonna have obviously elected election cycle coming up and you're gonna have both general simply the House and the Senate um that I'm gonna run happy join those campaigns and the length of the officials that represent your values um and that's gonna be your next Dream Brown young today's training that would be like and after that obviously And have Russian races to run those also excellent place to have a nice experience of large scale games beauties and so I wanted to tell you just a ticket onto somehow I ran for office I say that I had not community organizing and advocacy work since I was seven years old um and that nice because um I think the United States was born in Mexico when I was five years old I didn't have a set of English that we have in our school system made by the staff with you nice work um not teachers obviously so I became sort of the litter for students for parents for teachers and obviously for myself as well and family and so it just became part of the routine of what I did that I just the fair ability of being able to provide language access um I had the opportunity to speak um on behalf I don't quite frankly for most of the time so ever since I can remember I've always um hats all this company on that because I thought this is another form of really keeping the right to ask a lot was wise because quite frankly most of the time that people have problems in all those peaks that with the answers always um the public says and that's not going to do with style and support questions ask why and taking because So very quick this is that's that's how I wrote that's what this is an obligation um and so I continue and I was in College actually was a person that I got to do this to the general simply and thousand 42 thousand five um I was out for about a year to see I remember then that's when I started to see a lot of entities that legislation more consistent that legislation be introduced in our state capital and um and that point we were actually hp 509 was a precursor to what some of us to know as a result of the show your papers that that we just saw was basically in the last two years and we actually were enjoying a precursors to that field is um interesting eventually um her seventh of two thousand 11 they generally have the same issues um and portions of it were later on I've been reports particularly as it relates to the People's um where your state and so that was my introduction to the general Assembly and unfortunately the reality is that every year in our state we have five And on average this is a build um that are um entities of colored and criminalize communities of colors for the lifestyle going communities and with that obviously lose out a lot of a lot of the empty rooms they shouldn't importantly disagrees no different already had to strap and waiting for a couple to Drop and so that is why we need to be there someone has to advocate for themselves but also for the communities that they represent and so I have a third of the sort of advocacy workers as a student as a volunteer as a private individual simply with the nonprofit organizations that I participated with um and honestly I would have ended up Lost one school and so I had an emotional right this at one of those people they won sometimes um closing over years um constantly my five and 10 year plan we have to be so Remember that first loan campaigns actually it's the people that volunteered for the campaign here and after that that type of great but after that I had been to support times done to individual called me and asked if I would consider running the first credit Paul I was a Because I was just starting my last for about a year this is not the time And then the story right from the home were closer friends I couldn't see those That's how I think about it and um and so it's like okay meantime sure are long With the state of time um my House an idea listen is it for tonight so maybe I don't What else my kids the graces my support so if you decide to run so Keep that story this is a longer story and that's where she um and it's a secret facebook so the Should we turn off the live stream so I mention that this um this started off by saying I would like to see that you might one lunch this very slick dries up and that's it and um and then went into getting this stuff um all of these that would run a district which basically throws in this of all the negative stereotypes about people when you read your population of the district and um if that was He said um that the biggest hole we have district was people have chickens in the back You Bute is no Really This really because there's a vent 10 minutes um about chickens backyards in the problems and and finally when it came to me that he was serious and um the person that I was speaking with um was when he said that the problem was that almost exclusively across the border to College No Here is Uh and so only comment to them was if you find And is a is not here she's in life and uh and sounds like well you know what happened it's so happiness you know that the neck kind of like that about 15 years that um the only person in the actually has chickens in their backyards she happens to be White She has a little bit later And so and so when I said that um he said well that you must use that as Inside looks cuz if you're gonna rock this thing I know I was I didn't answer facebook twitter snap chat and instagram you can follow the blog you can look for me as a full frontal openness and with services that's like and please come to the capital not a recession because we both leave the presents and people necessary um on your behalf thank Um representative candidate think represent these um who are two of our first elected
