From the bottom of my heart, I want to extend my most profound appreciation for all of the support, encouragement, dedication and hard work I've seen from so many people throughout this campaign.
We've done what we set out from the start to do: run a future-facing, issues-oriented, positive campaign. And it made an impact. Yesterday I saw dozens and dozens of people who immediately recognized me from either talking to them at their door or from the countless pieces... of literature our volunteers have left with them. Countless people told me that it was because of the quality of our campaign that they were proud to vote Tidwell on Election Day.
Our message has a future. This race has exceeded many of the expectations we set for ourselves, over performing for Republicans and leading the ticket in areas. The message of transparent government and accountability has brought many people in who would otherwise never consider supporting our campaign. By attending community events, talking to non-traditionally Republican communities, we made more of an impact than we could ever hope to buy through just mail or TV ads.
While we were also disappointed that the results of the statewide elections were not the victory we hoped for, we were shocked at how close we actually came. We've already seen how the disastrous roll out of Obamacare has shifted opinions from where they were polled just weeks ago. Now, more than ever, is the best time for us to continue to fight for open government.
Let me assure you- this may have been my first race for elected office, but it will not be my last. I've been overwhelmed by the magnitude of support and appreciation I've seen- not only by my friends, but from our community. Due to the help and support I've received from you over this campaign, leaders across the state have taken notice of our efforts and we'll be looking closely to see what new opportunities we can take on next.
I will be taking some time over the next week to visit my brother for his wedding in Texas, but rest assured- I'll come back fired up and ready to continue getting our message out , bringing our causes to victory in 2014 and beyond. Last night was the first step in an incredible, exciting journey to bring our message forward. It has been an honor to travel this far with all of you, and I can't wait to see where we'll go next.

Courtesy of the Falls Church News-Press, here's the front-page picture from the debate I had with my two opponents. We had a great discussion about the future of Falls Church and Fairfax, and contrasted on some key issues.
Our message of transparency and accountability was heard loud and clear, and I'm excited to see how tomorrow's election results come out!
Anyone who tells you this election is already over is only fooling themselves. As election day approaches, the polls are narrowing and our efforts are stronger than ever.
NOW is the time to get off the sidelines, and get in the game. We have less than a week to go- what are you doing to help us win?
Tonight is the night! Do you have your tickets yet? Check out the full bio for both of our awesome hosts!

This weekend, I was reminded that the terrible events 12 years ago did not just affect New York- they also struck lives here in Virginia as well.
The Pentagon Memorial, adjacent to the Pentagon, has 184 benches representing the 184 lives lost on 9/11/2001. These benches have water flowing under them that stops each day at 9:37 am, for a full minute.
Today isn't just another anniversary, it's an opportunity to reflect on what brings us together as a country and renew our fa...ith in shared American values.
Never forget, and God Bless America.
