TODAY MARKS THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE VERY FIRST 911 CALL EVER MADE...

"This year marks the 50th anniversary of the first 9-1-1 call, made in Haleyville, AL on February 16, 1968. For half a century, 911 has been the gateway between the public and emergency help, and it will continue to be there as a lifeline to help people when they need it most. Though the profession, technology and industry have changed over the years, the desire to make a difference in people’s lives remains the same." - NG911 Inst.

A st...rong cold front will move across the area Thursday and Thursday night. Rain ahead of the front will change over to a wintry mix of freezing rain and sleet as the temperature quickly drops behind the front into the lower 30s. If you are planning travel Thursday into Friday you should check the latest forecast for the expected timing of the change from rain to frozen precipitation.
