Officer Farris and Officer Kimball, with the Weld County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control, came across a Swainson Hawk today while on shift. Officer Farris and Officer Kimball safely captured the Hawk and found a safe location to release the Swainson Hawk back into the wild. Weld County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program for assessing the bird before it was released back in the wild. Awesome job guys!

Sheriff Steve Reams and the Weld County Board of Commissioners recognized Deputy Leslie Wiemers for 31 years of dedicated service to the Weld County Sheriff’s Office and to the citizens of Weld County.

Deputy Wiemers has retired and will be missed. Wiemers served as a Detentions Deputy, Patrol Deputy and was part of the Weld County Drug Task Force. Deputy Wiemers was recently assigned as the school resource officer for Aims Community College.

Sheriff Reams said, “Les’ heart... and dedication to public safety has never been questioned, He’s been a great asset to the sheriff’s office. We’re definitely going to miss you.”

Good luck in your future endeavors Deputy Wiemers and remember you are always welcome here anytime!!!

You need to tell your officers that they're not allowed to be parking on OG (oil and gas leases) locations to radar speeders. Those locations are strictly for oil and gas employees. The reason for t...hat is because your officers don't know the hazards, are not PPE equipped and it's also private property. There are plenty of signs with strict rules and regs. Saw two deputies over the course of 3 days sitting on leases and i reported them to oil n gas company men. Going forward we're going to start taking pictures, posting them, and reporting them to the oil and gas companies. See More

a few days ago, sheriff officers went to my brother's farm and told him that if he didn't leave, he would be arrested. They did this, apparently, based on a piece provided to them by a man who has co...nned my brother out of hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of property in the last few years and has since carried on a campaign of harassment in his frustration at not being able to get what is left. This paper supposedly gave this man authority over the property because my brother supposedly sign it, and it allowed him to evict my brother. Had the sheriff's department did the slightest bit of investigation, they would had discovered that my brother does not actually own the property, a trust does, and that he is a protected person and his business affairs are in the hands of a court appointed conservator. These steps were taken largely to protect him from this man with the bogus piece of paper. However, instead of arresting this man for extorting a person at risk, the sheriff's department assists him in harassing my brother. Are they just incompetent, or are they on the take? See More

I was driving through Weld Cty yesterday and one of your officers followed my car for several miles at a pretty close distance, which I felt was unsafe. When I finally turned off back to BOCO, I notic...ed the rear end of the car had 'In God We Trust" painted on the back. This is an odd thing to have on a government issued vehicle, since we are not a christian nation and there is no one religion or any for that matter. As someone who is not part of the abrahamic religions and has a bumper sticker stating that, I am wondering if I might have been targeted based on my religious choices. in 2015 i suffered a traumatic brain injury which robbed me of my children, my home, my ability to appropriately respond to day to day situations that arise and to depend fully on the one person that ...ensures that i am provided for in my day to day life. In a matter that is FULLY my personal and very private business know as my marriage, i am being told that my marital vows that were sworn in front of and to God, are not a matter of the court systems concern as the weld county judicial system, the weld county public defenders office and the weld county district attorney, have decided that they have the right to make my decisions in my marriage, my religion, my life and my day to day quality of life for me, despite me openly and very vocally providing a request for a modification on an unnecessary protection order that prevents me from having a safe place to life, a door that locks, a roof over my head and food in my stomach. these departments have decided that my decisions in regards to my own life are not of importance and have decided instead to ignore my pleas and set the motion out two more weeks which means i am facing two more weeks without my caregiver and no family who is willing to do so. this after being evicted from my only home with no where to go, this after my car being wrecked after being driven without my permission and ALL the response that i am managing to get from anyone is that I qwill just have to wait to see a judge because they have determined the details of my life, my marriage and my relationship with GOD for me. So im not allowed an advocate or to advocate for myself, make decisions in regard to MY life, Enjoy the privacy of my marriage and apparently not even allowed the basic freedom of basic human necessities bc im not allowed to be around the one person that provides me a quality of life. I'm very impressed with the WCSO. They were perusing fugitives through our property. They were happy to talk to us and tell us what was going on. I got to give the K9 water since he was SO worn out. T...he officer even called later that night to let us know that we were safe and they confirmed the criminals were no longer in the area. Thanks for keeping us safe, even out on the farm! See More

GPD and WCSD, (mostly GPD in my experiences) target car owners like myself on purpose, simply because we enjoy driving cars louder than a Prius and they know they can extort money from us since we app...arently have more of it. I would honestly love to speak with anyone in either department that isn't completely biased towards modified car owners about an "Improper or Defective exhaust" ticket I received, in which said Greeley officer claimed he would explain to me exactly why I was receiving said ticket after a "short" (20 minute) break in his vehicle. Once he walked back, all that he said was the general "Do you understand what's on this ticket and do you have any questions about it?" shpeel, and took of afterwards. Absolutely ZERO EXPLANATION as to why he *thinks* my exhaust is supposedly improper. Last time I checked, you can't pass emissions with improper exhaust. My car was cleared with flying colors. Nowhere near any limit, much less exceeding them. I'd love to splay all my proof of this right here and now on this (possibly pointless) review, but I can't post photos on either page. Seems they don't want to admit they are human and can be wrong about something as well. Needless to say, I'm not happy about this and will be fighting against this ridiculous claim to the fullest extent with the proof that I have. (Final side note, this is not the first ticket I've received like this or the first car I've received it on. I feel discriminated as a car owner and lover.)

Greeley Extortion Department gets 1 star from me for sure. Never met a single Greeley Officer that wasn't condescending towards me in some way or another.

WCSD gets 2 stars, because I'm not constantly harassed like GPD seems to love to do to my car and myself. However, I still see and hear fellow car people getting an unfortunate amount of extortion from them as well though.

(DISCLAIMER: My review is not directed at any one person. My review is not directed in an aggressive fashion.
My review IS to state the way I truly see these departments and their "somewhat" flawed system they seem to run on.)

I would love to hear anyone's thoughts on this and encourage replies. And thanks a ton for reading the whole review if you did.

We had a crazy bull that decided to come and visit our heifers yesterday. I called the Sheriffs office and a Sheriff along with animal control came out to catch him. All ended well, bull went home. Kristy Allbrandt is struggling to find justice after Bank of America stopped cashing the payments she was sending to them. Judge Hoskins refused to allow her to present evidence of this in court, and ...she is now facing eviction from her home of 15 years. It is a truly sad story, and one I hope you will listen to. I have always supported police and hate anyone against them, I have nothing but respect for them and the jobs they do, that being said, I don't know why when asking a simple question about which dire...ction I can go to get through a street they are blocking I get talked to In a rude, condescending manner. I don't get why It was a burden to ask a police sheriff for help, I pulled up thinking I would get help, instead I was rushed off with the wrong info, and a different outlook all together, all in a 15 second interaction. Thank you to Martin Marietta (Rocky Mountain Division) for having Deputy Randy Carter over at your annual “Back to Work” meeting and allowing him to educate the employees about the dangers of drinking and driving. Some of the employees got a first-hand on how difficult roadside maneuvers can be while under the influence of alcohol or drugs by wearing the fatal vision alcohol impairment simulation goggles.

Hudson man arrested on Child Pornography charges

On Thursday, March 8, 2018, the Weld County Sheriff’s Office, arrested 53-year-old, Terry Wayne Sluiter, out of Hudson, Colorado on charges of Sexual Exploitation of a Child (Class 4 Felony) Sluiter was transported to the Weld County North Jail Complex.

The investigation began when investigators received information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about a possible child pornography being uploaded o...nline.

On March 8, 2018 investigators executed a search warrant on Sluiter’s home and recovered electronic equipment that will be forensically examined.

In an interview with an investigator, Sluiter admitted to possessing child pornography. Investigators found more than 100 images containing child pornography.

All charges are merely accusations until proven guilty in a court of law. No other information will be released at this time.

Male Party Arrested for Trespassing on Private Property

On Thursday, March 8, 2018, at about 9:50 am, the Weld County Sheriff’s Office responded to a trespassing in progress in the area of East Highway 34 and East 20th Street near Greeley, in Unincorporated Weld County, Colorado. It was reported that there were several people protesting on private property. One of the protesters, later identified as 23-year-old, Cullen Walter Lobe (DOB 10/20/1994) had chained himself to the f...ront end of the heavy operating equipment and was refusing to leave.

When deputies arrived on scene, they informed the individuals multiple times that they were on private property and needed to leave. At approximately 11:30 am, Lobe was taken into custody and charged with 2nd Degree Criminal Trespassing. Lobe was transported the Weld County North Jail Complex without further incident. Several other individuals were cited and released for Criminal Tampering.

No individuals were hurt during the incident. All charges are merely accusations until proven guilty in a court of law. No other information will be released at this time.

Residential Burglary

On March 6, 2018, at approximately 11:21 pm, The Weld County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a robbery in progress in the 900 block of East 28th Street, near Greeley, in unincorporated Weld County, Colorado. The suspects were described as two individuals wearing dark clothing and black masks, driving a black SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) unknown plate. The suspects left the scene before deputies arrived.

When deputies arrived, they learned that... two individuals who were armed gained access to the residence and stole items belonging to the victims. The victims were not harmed during the incident.

This is an ongoing investigation and information is limited. There is no known threat to the community. The Weld County Sheriff’s Office is asking for any information from the community that can lead to the apprehension of these individuals please contact 970-356-4015 option 1, or any of the numbers listed below this message.

Today we had the privilege of being part of Read Across America Day. In observance of the beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss’s birthday, deputies spent time this morning with the 5th grade class reading Dr. Seuss books to the students. Deputies also spent time with the 7th grade class and answered a lot of great questions asked by the students. Thank you, Bella Romero Academy, for having us over!

One of our favorite Dr. Seuss quotes, "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go."

Congratulations to Sam Kaneta III on being promoted to Captain of the Detentions Division. Captain Kaneta started with the Sheriff’s Office in February 1997 as a Detentions Deputy. In 2000, he transferred over to the Patrol Division.

Captain Kaneta has been an FET (Field Evidence Technician), FTO (Field Training Officer), Firearms Instructor, Swat Tactical Leader, Swat Commander and Active Shooter Instructor. He has worked his way through the ranks as a Commander/Sergeant an...d Lieutenant of the Patrol Division. He has completed multiple leadership, practical and tactical courses. He recently attended the FBI National Academy’s 270th Session, which is a highly prestigious professional course of study for U.S. and international law enforcement managers who are nominated by their agency leaders because of demonstrated leadership and qualities.
