8:42 PM UPDATE: We've talked with police. This was not a robbery. Started as "verbal disturbance" with clerk in the gas station. Two people being questioned. http://westseattleblog.com/…/police-response-in-the-juncti…/

UPDATE: King County Sheriff's Office helicopter says it was a "possible robbery" at a gas station north of The Junction. Our crew will be talking to SPD on the ground.

Earlier this week, we reported on SDOT's launch of "outreach" for two paving projects that could start in a few years. We had some followup questions - and here are the replies:

APOLOGIES: For the past day-plus, we've heard from some WSB readers that they're having trouble getting to our website. We've done troubleshooting and the problem's not on our end. Our server company says it's a Comcast problem, and it's affecting more sites than just ours: https://www.liquidweb.com/support - We're asking Comcast what's being done about it. It's not affecting ALL Comcast users - we know that firsthand - but if it is affecting your access to WSB, please accept our apology anyway, and know that until we know it's fixed, we'll post breaking news details here as well as on our site so that important info isn't inaccessible to anyone because of a technical problem. Thank you - Tracy @ WSB

From a community meeting to a poetry event ... here are highlights of what's ahead for today/tonight:

Almost no one wants to talk about it. Almost everyone needs to. It can be truly a matter of life and death.

The 13th annual West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day - May 13th this year - gets ever closer. (And the registration deadline is this Thursday night.) Here's some of what we're seeing:

Good morning! The Olympics have made an appearance. Thanks to Lynn Hall for the photo.

We've talked a lot on WSB lately about our area's rutted roads. Tonight the city announced it's starting outreach for major paving projects that could happen "as soon as 2019." But they're not the two roads that have drawn the most concern. We'll be following up, but for starters, here's what was announced: http://westseattleblog.com/…/west-seattle-repaving-city-sa…/

The city rules proposed last year for Airbnb (etc.) hosts didn't go over well. Now, a new proposal: http://westseattleblog.com/…/airbnb-host-renting-short-ter…/

Plea from a parent ... paperwork can be a hassle but in this case, sooner is better than later: http://westseattleblog.com/…/plea-from-a-parent-enrolling-…/
