Previously unseen U.S. government records detail ‘deeply worrying’ incidents in pork and poultry plants, raising fears of ‘dirty meat’ entering the UK under a p...ost-Brexit trade deal. Shocking hygiene failings have been discovered in some of the U.S.’s biggest meat plants, as a new analysis reveals that as many as 15% (one in seven) of the U.S. population suffers from foodborne illnesses annually. U.S. campaigners are calling once again for the closure of a legal loophole that allows meat with salmonella to be sold in the human supply chain, and also warn about the industry’s push to speed up production in meat plants, which will lead to food safety hazards. And UK campaigners warn that the UK could be flooded with “dirty meat” if a U.S. trade deal is signed post-Brexit. The unpublished U.S. government records highlight numerous specific incidents including: Diseased poultry meat that had been condemned found in containers used to hold edible food products; Meat destined for the human food chain found riddled with fecal matter and abscesses filled with pus; Factory floors flooded with dirty water after drains became blocked by meat parts and other debris.
Meat animals in the U.S. are fed toxic, pesticide-laced GMOs grown in polluting chemical monoculture farms. They live crammed in horrid, filthy concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs) in their own excrement. Many times these CAFOs are so crowded that the animals are not even able to move around. Of course, industrial meat producers know these filthy facilities are breeding grounds for disease, so they preemptively and continuously feed the sick and unhealthy animals with antibiotics. And then once the animals are done with their sick and miserable lives and are ready for slaughter, they go into these horrid, filthy processing factories. Mmmm. Sound finger lickin' good?

“An organic farmer in Missouri has suffered losses of $300,000, including half of their bees, due to herbicide drift from a neighboring soybean farm. This time,... it wasn't dicamba, instead it was glufosinate combined with 2 other herbicides. Ironically, the farm sells the fruits of their labor to 150 members of their community supported agriculture (CSA) program and some of the CSA members are employees of a large, well-known multi-national agribusiness company in St. Louis. Their certifications have been suspended and the Brabos farm is out of business for three years. “We aren’t sure what we are going to do,” Mike says. “The worst case scenario is we lose the family farm.” Where is the accountability? The chemical manufacturers and chemical farmers should be the ones put out of business instead.”
