"Tell Her Goodbye", from Evan Bliss' first solo album released in 2006, Pour-Soi En Soi. Evan once described this song as a "soft uptempo ballad about moving on". The crew at Spotify said it was added to their office's playlist. Thank you for this awesome video Steph and Hugo!
Evan Bliss, the extremely rare renaissance man that he was, was inducted into the Kenyon College Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday for his incredibly impressive lacrosse scoring records - still #1 to this day. As Mary said: "It was so speci...al to be there to honor my amazing husband & best friend. Evan was not only a genius musician with one of the greatest tenor voices of all time, but a perfect husband, friend and inspiration to all, an incredible writer and ALSO, a star athlete. He was humble, profound and brilliant at everything he did. Bion gave a beautiful speech. It was great seeing everyone and honoring him together." Meer weergeven

Jack Straw, one of Evan's favorite Grateful Dead songs, inspired this high energy track - Jack Strong - from Evan's second solo album. The song was featured in several professional surf videos and biking videos. Enjoy!

with valentine’s day this week, it’s hard to pick just the right tune for the occasion from Evan’s plethora of incredible love songs, but it has to be ‘On Life and Love’ – a pop song about young love that speaks to so many of our own experiences

re-sharing David Shervin's wonderful post, and in the spirit of his comment thought we could listen to 'Two Points of You,' perhaps the most purely beautiful song Evan ever wrote.

David said: "I saw you perform live years ago in a back all...ey bar in DC, I was never moved by the universal instrument of music since that day. You will forever be a memory in my life and by that, you shall still live. Bless you, your family, and passion for music." Meer weergeven

with Evan's beloved Redskins taking on the Eagles today, here's a shoutout to Eagles fan, Evan's best friend and bass player, Jason Mattis, who has said 'Big Decisions Little Things' is the song that typifies what their music is all about

one should turn the volume all the way up, particularly the bass, to listen to this gritty song called Passerby; i especially love the message, his singing of the word 'crowd,' and the sheer climactic intensity of final guitar line

"how long, baby, how long"

This is Evan's brother Bion chiming in, as I will from time to time, to share Evan's amazing art. With the discovery of some new planets in the news, I thought it apropos to share a live version of Captain Collins Navigates from Star to Star. Enjoy!

While living in Nicaragua, Evan had a professional grade home studio and wrote over 30 songs, including his latest single, Tony Danza. Of the many songs he wrote, Evan was most proud of his Tony Danza lyrics. We love these lyrics too - so clever, catchy and smart in typical Evan fashion: “so tell me who’s the boss of you? / can you deduce from where you get your truth? / is it ma or is it pa? is it the rising or the fall / is it science is it spirits / is it government or God / is it a person or a thing / is it a soldier or a king / is it nothing, is it some / is it many is it all?” Check it out here: http://www.reverbnation.com/play_now/song_13791746

Today's Washington Post has a full-page article on Evan, a rare tribute even for major celebrities. The hard copy headline could not be more true: "Musician known as much for his kindness as his songs." Link to the electronic version below, or pick up a hard copy which includes an awesome picture of Evan playing music.

For anyone that hasn't seen, the memorial service for Evan will take place at 1:00 on Friday at Cedar Lane Unitarian Church in Bethesda. All are invited. Additionally, I'd just like to share a quick story about Evan and what we were up to. A few weeks ago, we took a trip to Nashville for a pair of shows. We played on Sunday night and then did a showcase on Monday afternoon. A few of us had to... work on Tuesday, so we left late Monday afternoon and drove the 11 hours straight back to DC. I was with Evan and Mary, and Evan literally would not give up the wheel. He drove straight from 7pm-7am (with the time change) and the three of us listened to his new demos that he'd recorded in Nicaragua and threw ideas around the whole trip. I still have a bunch of notes that I'd taken down on my phone. We were all so excited about the new music and fired up to get back into the studio. The man just never stopped living music and loving everyone in his huge, deserved circle. Meer weergeven
