It is with very heavy hearts that we announce WholeSoy & Co. will be closing all operations this month. WholeSoy was founded in 1999. By 2013 soy yogurt sales were soaring and WholeSoy was the number one brand of soy yogurt on the market! Our unique Non-GMO verified, Organic, Vegan, Gluten-free, non-dairy yogurt had become a staple favorite in households across the country.
Unfortunately, in April of 2013 the contract manufacturer that was helping us make soy yogurt abruptly ...closed its doors leaving us without a facility to make our products. We were faced with a very difficult decision to either shut down WholeSoy or find a way to continue. We decided to pursue a long held dream and build our own dairy-free yogurt facility. This was an exciting, but incredibly expensive endeavor.
Determined to remain independent and family-owned, our founding partners contributed all available personal funds to build the facility. A year off the shelves, WholeSoy soy yogurts returned to the market, welcomed with open arms by retailers and consumers alike. We quickly became the number one soy yogurt once again!
Despite regaining strong sales, generous assistance from Whole Foods Market Local Producer loan program, and all of our hard work, it has become clear that we cannot support the full cost of the debt as well as the day to day operations of WholeSoy. Unfortunately, we have exhausted all possible sources of additional funding, and can no longer continue to operate.
We are eternally grateful for all of the support, loyalty, encouragement, and love we have received over the last 16 years from our consumers, retailers, distributors, suppliers, and brokers. Special thanks to Oasis Sales and Marketing, to whom we attribute much of the brand's success, for their unwavering support and passion. It has been a wonderful journey.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and farewell!
The WholeSoy & Co. Team
We’re delighted to hear that many of you have found and finally are devouring our 24oz tub flavors including the Unsweetened Plain (hooray)!
There are still many stores that are not aware or have not yet been able to stock our 24oz tubs as fast as we hoped. Our team is doing everything possible to encourage more stores to stock our popular Unsweetened Plain flavor (and other 24oz flavors). However, many retail stores really need to know, and hear from their very own customers..., that you all want WholeSoy 24oz tubs back too!
Our Request WholeSoy Guide has all the information you and your local store need to help get your favorite flavor back on the shelf: http://bit.ly/1Azq869
* Please also let us know where you’d like to see the 24oz tubs carried and at which exact stores you have made a request so we can follow-up on our end.
Your voice is so valuable to us and will help bring WholeSoy 24oz tubs back to more of your favorite stores. Thank you all again - your requests have been instrumental to our successful re-launch of the 6oz cups - let’s make it happen again with the 24oz tubs! WholeSoy has been able to grow, remain independently owned, and create a dairy-free facility because of our supportive community (you)!
Pssst: WholeSoy is going to be on sale for much of October at participating retailers.
We're soy excited again to announce that our large 24oz tubs – in Unsweetened Plain, Vanilla and Plain flavors – are now shipping and have begun making their way to stores across the country (and Canada)! Since we ship from California, the West Coast will see shelves stocked first with the rest of the country to follow in the next week or two. Yay!
Read the complete blog post for details on where to first find WholeSoy tubs: http://bit.ly/1rn8YrE
It may take time for some ...retailers to make shelf space for the tubs so we compiled a WholeSoy Request Guide to help get Unsweetened Plain, Vanilla and Plain in 24oz Tubs back into stores with your help: http://bit.ly/1Azq869
Thank you all for helping make the re-launch of our individual 6oz cups a HUGE success and for standing by us throughout the journey to building our own dairy-free facility. Many stores welcomed us back with open arms – and that's a direct result of you, our wonderful customers, showing stores how much you like WholeSoy! Thank you forever!
Start making space in your fridge for WholeSoy!!! Our very first orders of WholeSoy Soy Yogurt cups, now made in our own dairy-free facility, just shipped out to distributors this week and the trucks have started to make their way to stores across the country (and Canada)! Since we ship from Northern California, the West Coast will naturally start to see shelves stocked first in the coming week with the rest of the country to follow in the next week or two.
WholeSoy wasn't av...ailable for far too long but we're delighted to announce all WholeSoy Soy Yogurt cup flavors are back using the same certifications, attributes and recipe you have come to love from us! Please note that we are making our 6oz cup sizes first with our 24oz sizes, including Unsweetened Plain, to follow soon after – we'll keep you posted on when you can expect 24oz back.
Our own California dairy-free facility is churning out soy yogurt every week to meet the high pent up demand for WholeSoy! We have made a whole lot of soy yogurt, enough to fill all the huge orders we received, but we won't be surprised if the first shipments sell out fast. Don't worry, it won't be too long before the orders, supply, and demand balance out and all will be right in the WholeSoy world once more.
Despite the many obstacles we faced when our previous co-packer unexpectedly closed, and the unexpected bumps along the way while building our own dairy-free yogurt facility, we pushed ahead because of the incredible customer and retail support for WholeSoy.
We truly appreciate all of your patience and support throughout this incredibly difficult journey!
Your positive encouragement and support from retailers propelled us forward to make our dream a reality.

Even more details to follow!
We are only days away to re-launching the same WholeSoy you have all come to love (same recipe, packaging, certifications, and so on)! We are sneak previewing and sampling WholeSoy, now made in our own dairy-free facility, this week to our retailer contacts at Natural Products Expo West in Anaheim, CA where we’ll be encouraging retailers across the country to make space for WholeSoy soy yogurt again on their shelves!
We’re so very close to shipping those first cups across the... country! Everyone is very enthusiastic about WholeSoy’s return. You can be certain that we are doing everything we can to ensure that retailers will know when it’s time to place their orders for WholeSoy. We'll also let you know when it's time to remind your favorite store that they can order WholeSoy again.
We have so much appreciation for all of you - for your unwavering support and patience. Thank you!!!
Happy New Year! We're gearing up for the re-launch! We know it’s been far too long since WholeSoy disappeared from the shelf but everything is coming together and we can finally say that we’ve been able to test out all of our yogurt making equipment and we’re in the early stages of actually making yogurt!
We really hoped this would be the week we could give a firm date for when you can expect to see WholeSoy on shelves, but we are still finalizing the tests before beginning ...
Thank you all again for hanging in there with us and for enduring the long absence of your favorite non-dairy soy yogurt! Your encouraging comments have really helped us persevere through the challenges of setting up our very own yogurt facility. We're so grateful to have the most patient and supportive customers still cheering us on!
We're getting so very close to making soy yogurt again, but with an additional delay and the holiday season, we are now estimating making yogur...t in December to arrive on store shelves at the very beginning of January.
What caused the delays?
We did everything possible to stick to our scheduled launch this fall. But we are taking great care in each step of the process and some steps have taken longer than originally expected. The technician calibrating our equipment (specifically the part that fills each cup with yogurt) discovered parts on the equipment that were not working adequately and must be replaced. This is a critical piece of equipment and if not fixed now would have caused breakdowns in the near future. We're waiting on the new parts to deliver and we are rescheduling the specialty technician to install them. All of this occurring during the busy holiday season makes this especially challenging to schedule. As a small company, we are also deeply committed to respecting our employees' and contractor's special time with their families this time of year.
We understand how frustrating this entire process has been especially since for most of you, there isn't anything out there that can replace WholeSoy. As a small company, we have taken on the incredible task of building our own dairy-free facility. There were times when it even felt impossible, but we've made the nearly impossible happen! We're almost there! It is our tight-knit staff at WholeSoy and our dedicated contractors working right beside us that are making this dream a reality. But in the end the driving force behind all of this hard work is you, our loyal consumers.
We're so grateful for everyone hanging in there with us and hope you can continue to hang on just little bit longer. We'll have another update again as we approach the official re-launch!
We wish you all a happy and peaceful holiday season!

Thanks everyone for hanging in there with us! Apologies for our delayed update – the entire WholeSoy team has been chipping in at our new yogurt facility so we can start making yogurt again. It's all coming together but we are all still waiting on an official re-launch date based on our test runs.
Our plan to return this fall had been going on schedule however, we have run into a two week delay just coordinating schedules for some specialty expert technicians that must calibr...ate the yogurt equipment. So sorry, delays are never fun for anyone but we just cannot take short cuts. Every step must be done right to make the quality WholeSoy yogurt you expect from us. We hope you can understand that our preparations now will translate to a more stable supply of WholeSoy in the near future. Also know that the entire WholeSoy team is giving it 150% to get your favorite soy yogurt back onto store shelves!
With the delay, the plan is that we'll start making yogurt again the last week of November - just in time to be grateful for soy yogurt!
So close we can almost taste it! Hang in there!
We have participated in Non-GMO Month every year since it began and this year is no exception! We want to keep the commitment that we made months ago (long before the interruption) to be a part of the Non-GMO Project giveaway. We promise that the giveaway winner will receive their WholeSoy treat when we’re back up and running next month! First of many ways we plan to give back to our consumers in the coming months (and years)!!!
There's still time to enter the giveaway today (follow the link below)!
Thank you all again for hanging in there with us! We have made a lot of progress setting up our own (totally dairy-free) yogurt facility and we are getting so very close to making WholeSoy soy yogurt again! We're gearing up to perform test runs (where we test and optimize the new equipment for maximum soy yogurt quality) and as long as all goes as planned, we estimate that we will begin shipping product again, early to mid November! (yay!)

We're so close to re-launching!
The next two weeks are the most critical in determining our exact re-launch date, but as soon as we have a firm date for that first shipment, we will let you know. Feel free to wish us luck and success during this exciting testing phase!
Even with our longer than expected absence the demand is incredibly high for WholeSoy! To most efficiently get soy yogurt back onto store shelves (and also into your soon to be happier tummies), the first few weeks will be dedicated to making our 6 oz. individual cup flavors. We will start rolling out the large 24 oz. tubs as soon as possible shortly after and we will provide details along the way. Not to worry, all your favorite flavors will be available again in the coming weeks using the same recipe, same packaging, and of course the same certifications will apply (Organic, Non-GMO Verified, Vegan, Kosher Pareve) not to mention our facility is totally dairy-free and gluten-free!
Many thanks for your requests!
A huge THANK YOU to you from everyone at WholeSoy for rooting for our return, sending encouraging messages, and making your voices heard at your local retail stores. Retail stores have been listening to your requests for WholeSoy's return – it's really significant and making such a huge difference. So many retailers (including Whole Foods!) want us back because of you! Even though some retailers might still be on the fence because WholeSoy has been gone for so long, we believe they'll make room on the shelves once they know our yogurts are back.
Stay tuned for our official re-launch announcement here on Facebook, on our blog, and Twitter. We will also answer additional frequently asked questions on our blog, and provide tips on how to approach your local retail stores about getting WholeSoy back on their shelves.
Thank you again for standing by us and for your unwavering dedication.

Thank you all again for your continued comments, encouraging support and patience! The fall is fast approaching and we know you are all on pins and needles waiting to hear the latest. We have been working diligently the last few months to begin making WholeSoy yogurts again!
We still anticipate that we will begin making soy yogurt this fall – likely late October to early November. Since our last update, we have been doing a whole lot of planning, acquiring and installing of y...ogurt–making equipment, certification paperwork, and so much more! Then we'll begin deep cleaning and testing the equipment. It's an immense amount of work, but it is well worth it!
We know the absence of your favorite non-dairy yogurt has been difficult for everyone and we sincerely apologize, but our preparations now will help us establish a consistent, stable, and delicious supply of WholeSoy for the future!
We'll bring you more updates and a clearer timeline when we get closer to making soy yogurt. In the meantime here is a quick recap of what led up to WholeSoy's unavailability:
The facility that previously helped us make and package our soy yogurt (called a co-packer in the industry) abruptly closed its doors and stopped making our products giving us only three days' notice. While in the process of setting up yogurt production at a new co-packing facility it became painfully clear, even after all the long hours we put into trying to make it work, that the new co-packer could not meet the high demand for WholeSoy yogurts either. We searched and scoured for another existing co-packer to temporarily help us make our yogurt but all to no avail. The only alternative became clear, we had to build our very own yogurt facility.

Thanks again for showing all your amazing support of WholeSoy - it's making a huge difference! We hope you continue to hang in there with us!

Thank you for hanging in there with us, and for all your encouraging messages, through this difficult time. We have been openly sharing our story with you week by week as it unfolds and we have a whole lot more to share with you that developed over the weekend. It has become painfully clear that the new yogurt co-packer will not be able to meet the high demand for WholeSoy yogurts either.
Rather than give up all together, we're taking a huge exciting leap - we're building ou...
WholeSoy is proud to be an independently-owned company, which gives us the ability to openly share our story with you as it unfolds. Well, we are learning the hard way that you can't fast track the move to a new production facility. We feel it is important, after so many unfulfilled promises over these last several weeks, to acknowledge that we were overly optimistic with our timeline and need a little more time to get it right.
We are aiming for late July or early August to ...resume full production. This may seem like a terribly long wait, but we need to do what is necessary to get it right. Please know that everyone here at WholeSoy is 150% dedicated to making the same delicious soy yogurts you have come to love.
For a quick recap: the facility that previously helped us make and package our soy yogurt (called a co-packer in the industry) abruptly closed its doors and stopped making our products giving us only three days' notice. We were incredibly fortunate to have already been in the process of setting up a new facility, but a move like this is a complicated endeavor that typically takes six months or more to complete.
In our effort to get product on the market as quickly as possible, we tried to rush the new facility into full production. The results have been extremely disappointing for us and we know for all of you, as well. We have run into multiple start-up issues which means only a small amount of product has been made available up to this point.
We need to take a few weeks to focus on taking additional steps at the new facility so that it can run adequate quantities of yogurt on a weekly basis. This will allow the facility to make additional critical upgrades such as larger fermentation tanks as well as fine-tune all the systems and procedures.
We understand how frustrating it is for you, our loyal customers, to hear that store shelves will be empty for a while longer. But, after taking a hard, honest look, we know that in the long run this will be the best thing for WholeSoy and ultimately our customers.
Our loyal customers mean the world to us and so we come to you with many apologies for the disappointment in the continued delay and sincere appreciation for all of the encouraging messages you've sent our way during this difficult time. They help remind us of why we're here—because of all of you—and that gives us the perseverance and courage to continue.
We hope you understand and can hang in there a little while longer with us!

While we make another yummy batch of yogurt we have a big favor to ask of everyone! Tell us: where do you want to see WholeSoy yogurts carried again? Include the name of the store (city & state, if possible), please.
It helps us to hear from you, just in case your favorite store is on the fence whether to make some space for WholeSoy again.
If you prefer to share anonymously, post to our blog: http://wholesoyco.com/blog/item/good-news-shipping...
Or, send us an email: http://wholesoyco.com/contact-us
We're starting to ship some flavors (as fast as we can make them)! We have a lot of empty shelves to fill so WholeSoy yogurts will steadily begin to fill those empty spaces throughout the coming month.
One last piece of the missing puzzle that we received late Friday is Organic Certification for the new facility (we cheered - huzzah)! With approval in hand, we started making yogurt through the weekend and so far some Strawberry and Vanilla are ready to go! We're shipping out ...what we've made so far throughout this week so we can at least get some flavors going into distribution. Yes, we are working on making additional flavors already (including Unsweetened Plain) and concentrating on our top-selling flavors for next week. Don't worry – if you don't see your favorite flavors on the shelves at first, rest assured, ALL of our delicious flavors will be available again.
With demand so high, and a distribution channel that has been completely empty of WholeSoy for a few weeks, it will take time to completely refill the entire yogurt pipeline from warehouses to store shelves with every flavor. It's going to be difficult to find some WholeSoy flavors at every store for the next month even though we're now shipping yogurt as fast as we can make it. We are running 24 hours a day to make as much yogurt as we can over the next several weeks. Once that pipeline is full of yogurt again, we will be back to a weekly, regular routine.

We are so incredibly touched by all your support and encouragement these last several weeks. Our loyal customers mean the world to us and we could not have made it through this difficult time without all of you!
The WholeSoy & Co. Team
Thanks again everyone for your ongoing patience and showing us an incredible amount of support the last couple of days! Update: we are in the process of fermenting the soybase - the first step to making WholeSoy yogurt! We will update you all again when it starts to ship out to our distributors across the country.
We can't apologize enough for the inconvenience the delays have caused you all. We want to give you a little more insight so we posted more information on our blog.... It's a long one but it answers some of the questions you all have been asking about the delays from the move to the new facility: http://wholesoyco.com/blog/item/sorry-for-the-delay
From the blog:
Since WholeSoy is a small independent company, we don't own the physical facility that helps us make and package our soy yogurt (called a co-packer in the industry). Although we had already been working on setting up a new facility for a few months, the old facility just abruptly closed its doors and stopped making our products (giving us only three days' notice) at a time when WholeSoy was at peak demand.
Setting up yogurt production at a new co-packing facility takes many months of planning, paperwork, and testing equipment. We were very fortunate to have already been in that process otherwise the delays could have been indefinite. Setting up production at a co-packing facility is typically about a 6-month endeavor that we accomplished in 8 weeks.
We have been doing everything possible to make the move to the new facility a smooth transition but the abrupt end at the old facility pushed everything into fast forward and temporarily halted our weekly production of yogurt. At the new facility, we have been expediting all the required certifications and now we are just waiting for the last few pieces and testing procedures to take place. It's very important to us that we make quality product.
We are confident that the new facility is going to be a great upgrade for us in the long run. We're also very lucky to have so many supportive people working with us to get every last piece in place. We have good standing relationships with our distributors (as we sell our products to distributors and not directly to retailers) who have been extremely understanding and supportive. We have been providing constant updates to our distributors and retail contacts as well. At times not every single person working at a retail store is informed about every shortage matter but we are providing retailers with notices they can post on the shelf if they choose to.
Once we're shipping our yogurt, and that may be as early as next week, we know that our distributors will do what they can to help get us back on the shelf as quickly as possible. When that time comes, we will also need a helping hand from you, our loyal customers, to let your local stores know that they can start ordering WholeSoy again.
Thanks again for your patience and understanding!
- The WholeSoy & Co. Team
Thank you all for your comments, suggestions, and also kind words of support during this big transition to our new facility. We sincerely apologize for the interruption of your daily WholeSoy routine. We know how critical WholeSoy yogurt is to so many of you so please know we're working as hard as we can to get all of the final pieces together and thinking of all of you as we do.
Some stores are temporarily placing other yogurts in the slots that held WholeSoy but that's just... so their shelves don't look so empty for now. As distressing as it can be right now without your daily yogurt, it's going to be better again in a few weeks!
We are working on getting a definitive timeline for all of you and in the meantime we appreciate your continued patience and understanding.
