"Credit unions are a great ally for your business and want to turn your dreams into reality," said Global Women Executive Director Calyn Ostrowski to a group of women entrepreneurs during a SXSW event partnered with Empowering a Billion Women by 2020. This week, EBW2020 launched their #fintech app MintHer matching women business owners with organizations seeking to do business with them.

Ostrowski joined Northwestern Mutual, The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation, and a Billion Women by 2020 to present Tina Chen, former Assistant to President Obama and Chief of Staff to Michelle Obama, now leading the Times Up Legal Defense Fund and Recording Academy / GRAMMYs task force on Diversity & Inclusion, with an award for her commitment to empowering women and dedication to equipping women with accessible capital to improve their lives.

The World Council of Credit Unions talks the 10 Commandments of Success in #Ag Lending. Check out their blog and the presentation they gave to USAID - US Agency for International Development in February 2018!

The USAID Bureau for Food Security invited the World Council of Credit Unions to speak about their work to advance agricultural lending across their member network.

World Council of Credit Unions Pres/CEO Brian Branch met with FACACH Chair, Pedro Jose Aguilar Godoy and CEO Edgar Hernandez in Honduras.

Discussions focused on increasing credit union finance for coffee and young entrepreneurs in Honduras.

Jean Thiboutot, World Council of Credit Unions Cooperative Development Program Director, presented at USAID - US Agency for International Development Bureau for Food Security this week in Washington, DC.

Jean talked about agricultural lending methodology that financial cooperatives are using to reach farmers in rural areas in 4 phases:
- learning about potential markets
- working directly with farmers to assess individual/household financial needs...
- dispensing loans in combination with loan insurance
- continuously monitoring the loans to ensure success
