An area of passion for Executive Director Marie Yolene A. Jacquet who knows well that increasing the number of women in leadership positions is good business for credit unions. In Haiti, it is an everyday battle to make sure that families can fulfill their needs, supporting professional development for women through training, participation and access to finance means children and families are stronger.

Jean Thiboutot, World Council of Credit Unions Cooperative Development Program Director, presented at USAID - US Agency for International Development Bureau for Food Security this week in Washington, DC.
Jean talked about agricultural lending methodology that financial cooperatives are using to reach farmers in rural areas in 4 phases:
- learning about potential markets
- working directly with farmers to assess individual/household financial needs...
- dispensing loans in combination with loan insurance
- continuously monitoring the loans to ensure success
