BANGLADESHI FEMINIST COLLECTIVE STATEMENT ON SUPREME COURT DECISION ON MUSLIM BAN
We are outraged but not surprised by the SCOTUS decision on Muslim Ban. As a transnational, intergenerational feminist collective, majority of whom are Muslim women of Bangladeshi origin, we see travel bans, exclusionary immigration policies targeting families, and the consolidation of the national security state, as feminist issues. We know how families are separated through such ...harmful laws, and how women, especially, bear the brunt of these policies. Our families and local communities have long experienced these policies including the Special Registration. We will continue to organize against them.
The Supreme Court has emboldened President Trump and his xenophobic and Islamophobic policies, and has put “national security” ahead of human rights. This will also legitimize his aggressive foreign policy and destabilize human rights around the world.
We declare #NoMuslimBanEver. The Bangladeshi Feminist Collective will continue to #StandWithMuslims.
