I feel like a new mom. After almost a year of waiting, my baby, "Song of the Lion" makes its debut today. I'm celebrating by working on the next book in the ser...ies for a bit this morning, then to Collected Works bookstore for the debut event, joined by students from New Mexico School for the Arts who will bring quotes from the book to life. On to The Poison Pen tomorrow, then the Kimo in Albuquerque, then the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture here in Santa Fe. Thanks to all my FB friends for you good wishes. My website has the full schedule. annehillerman.com

Join author Nancy Owen Lewis for an engaging, informative, behind the scenes tour of historic properties that served as tuberculosis sanatoriums in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Tour starts in Santa Fe, NM at the Catholic Retreat Center, formerly Sunmount Sanatorium. After a hearty buffet breakfast and a presentation by Nancy, we board the bus and head north to the Las Vegas, NM area and more sites. Lunch is at the historic Plaza Hotel in Las Vegas.

The tour is based on the award winning book, "Chasing the Cure in New Mexico: Tuberculosis and the Quest for Health", by Nancy Owen Lewis. The book is the compelling story of the thousands of "health seekers who made the journey to New Mexico from 1880 - 1940 seeking a cure.

I loved reading this about Tony. He was such an inspiration to all us authors, and so generous. He kindly gave me a blurb for my first book, which helped it to ...make several bestsellers lists! I still love the beautiful stories he told, the spareness in his writing that echoed that of the landscapes he set his stories upon. All of us in the outdoor western fiction genre owe a lot to this grand master. http://www.nmmagazine.com/article/…
