It was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011, described as having "influenced garden design in the rest of China as well as Japan and Korea over the centuries" and reflecting "an idealized fusion between humans and nature"

During the visit, we will have LSE students from Hangzhou as your personal tour guide. We promise that we will not miss any of the best-known attractions, such as the West Lake and Lingyin Temple. We will also visit tea plantations in Hangzhou which is really hard to find elsewhere in the world! So come and join us for the CDS China Outlook Trip 2016!

One of the highlights of outlook trip this year is Yu Garden, one of the largest ancient gardens with architectural features from Ming and Qing Dynasties. Yu represents comfort, satisfaction and pleasure in Chinese and this garden used to be a private garden of a local governor who intended to bring happiness and pleasure to his parents and relatives.

It is the invaluable opportunity to appreciate Chinese historical and cultural treasures that cannot be found elsewhere!!

The destination of this year’s trip will be Shanghai, the financial hub of China, and Hangzhou, which is the host city of G20 summit in 2016. Corporate visits this year include Baosteel Group and Bank of Communications. We will also visit some historical heritages e.g. Chenghuang Temple and the West Lake as well as the Oriental Pearl Tower!
